Men are more likely than women to face disciplinary action for productivity, absenteeism and work quality problems related to personal problems
Unemployed individuals are at a higher risk for depression, anxiety and other mental health issues than people with jobs. Research shows that people who have experienced longer periods of unemployment have poorer health by age 50 than people who have been steadily employed.
Being unemployed is a highly stressful situation, so it may cause stress-related health issues such as headaches, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, back pain and insomnia. These health issues often result in increased visits to a doctor and increased use of medication to manage the health conditions.
